Loving Paws does a lot of work with individuals that live in transitional housing settings.  In these communal environments, it can be difficult for some pet parents and their dogs to make the adjustments.  Things like maneuvering around small areas with other people and pets, setting boundaries, and maintaining control of a dog that is used to being free.  We had a big dog name Oso that was a chow mix who's pet parent had some trouble managing him during walks.  This was becoming an issue for him.  Oso had to wear a muzzle for preventative purposes, not because he was aggressive.  He would pull his pet parent and playfully lunge at other dogs when on his walk.  We called one of our partners, Oscar Rodriquez of Underdog K9 training to come work with us on this.  The first thing we suggested to the pet parent was to change his harness to a lead.  We provided him with new lead and began the training. Oscar then spent time working with the pet parent and Oso on the proper techniques when walking him.  By giving him the proper tools and techniques, the pet parent felt confident on his walks and Oso no longer pulls or lunges.  Oso and his pet parent are now housed and enjoy stress-free walks in their new neighborhood.
