Vashi
On May 12, 2025 Terryl received a call from an organization that Loving Paws was working with asking if we can help respite a dog while her pet parent was away. The organization did not have the capability to house the dog. They were unsure on how long the dog needed respite. Terryl and the Loving Paws Team agreed to take in this beautiful Pitty mix named Vashi. When she came in to our Van Nuys location she was really dirty and had fleas. Terryl gave her a nice flea bath and applied a flea preventative that will last her a month. While staying with us Vashi received loved from the whole team. She got lots attention. Terryl took her on walks in the neighborhood, which she really looked forward to. Maybe one week into her stay we noticed that Vashi urinated a lot and it had an odor. The team decided that we need to get her to the vet clinic. Thanks to Ann she was able to transport Vashi to and from her appointment at Shadow Hills Vet Clinic. Jessica the practice manager at Shadow Hills Vet Clinic made sure that Vashi received the best care at a reasonable price. They did blood work on her, she even got updated on her vaccinations. The results came out that she had a urinary tract infection. Other than that she was healthy. They sent her back with medication that our team had to give two times a day. We would give her the meds with a treat but she found ways to eat the treat and spit out the pill. We had to invest in the pill pockets to get her to eat it. She was so smart that she knew how to get out the gated daycare area at times. One day Terryl stepped out and came back to Vashi laying on the sofa in the office just relaxing. Terryl had to put a double lock on the gate from that point on. She stayed with us for one month. Vashi became a member of the family. On June 12th her pet parent came to pick her up. He was very emotional when he arrived and laid eyes on her after being separated for a month. Vashi was elated. She jumped up and down giving him kisses! He was thankful to the Loving Paws team for keeping her safe and giving her love in his absence. We at Loving Paws are honored to have helped keep them together especially in a time of need!
